I have a rental property which is a duplex built in 1948. The gas furnace is in a low efficent. It’s only a 770sqf for each unit and the gas bill is as high as $250 a month. It’s in a low income neighborhood so I dont want to spend a lot of money to upgrade to HVAC? Is it worth to repair it or it’s better to just buy a new gas furnace? How much does it cost to buy the unit and to install it? Any other options than installing a new gas furnace?

How much would a new 2 bedroom house cost to heat (with gas) and electric and water for two people living there, who work full time so are only in on a night and weeekends?
I’m looking to buy this house and it has these included in a monthly cost of £137 (along with othr things,service costs).
They say these are set for 12months then get reviewed and go up with inflation (not to make profit).

My parents had a newer boiler than mine. When they had a gas valve replaced, it cost nearly $500. I called a different HVAC company and they said that it was about right. I am trying assess the wisdom of buying a new boiler. I have an old Maclean-Weil (hope that’s right) about 40 years old for a split level home about 1800 square feet plus sub-basement.

My current furnace was installed in 1994 so I’m sure technology has changed and it warrants an upgrade. But, my furnace works great, heats fine. Just going to take advantage of the Tax Credit and upgrade to a more efficient system. I have terrible allergies which is why I’m interested in the CLEANEFFECTS but very skeptical of its effectiveness. The furnace will be installed same spot, same duct work…
